Our journey into Vietnam’s Annamite Range felt like stepping into another world. Thick jungle, small paths, high humidity and the sound of unseen animals all around. We were searching for something almost mythical: the Saola, also known as the Asian unicorn, one of the rarest large mammals on Earth. I followed a team of dedicated experts who had spent years trying to find traces of this elusive animal. Their precision and determination impressed me. Setting up motion-triggered cameras, tracking clues, and navigating the dense wilderness, they kept going—despite not knowing if they would ever see a Saola in their lifetime.
